چکیده

Original scientific paper The paper presents the comparative investigation on non-return-to-zero and return-to-zero modulation formats for optical inverter gate at 100 Gbit/s. Various performances as eye pattern, extinction ratio and bit error rate at different bit-rate are compared based on suitability of data formats. It indicates that return-to-zero pulses are distorted in a similar pattern, therefore bit error rate is better than non-return-to-zero format. The non-return-to-zero is more affected by non-linearity of semiconductor optical amplifier hence the bit error rate is degraded and extinction ratio is improved.

Optimization of OADM DWDM Ring Optical Network using Various Modulation Formats

In this paper, the performance of the ring optical network is analyzed at bit rate 2.5 Gbps and 5 Gbps for various modulation formats such as NRZ rectangular, NRZ raised cosine, RZ soliton, RZ super Gaussian, RZ raised cosine and RZ rectangular. The effect of insertion losses is analyzed. It is observed that RZ Soliton performs better than all other formats and using this scheme system can exis...

Generation of a 640 Gbit/s NRZ OTDM signal using a silicon microring resonator.

A 640 Gbit/s NRZ OTDM signal has been successfully generated for the first time by format conversion of a 640 Gbit/s OTDM signal from RZ to NRZ. First, a coherent 640 Gbit/s OTDM RZ signal is generated by wavelength conversion of the original incoherent OTDM signal utilizing Kerr switching in a highly nonlinear fiber. Second, RZ-to-NRZ format conversion is achieved in a specially designed silic...

Advanced Optical Modulation Formats in High-speed Lightwave System

In the next generation of lightwave systems, high speed datarate like 10Gb/s or 40Gb/s per channel is very attractive. In addition, to pack more channels into one single fiber, channel spacing is decreased from 200GHz to 50GHz or even smaller. The direct side-effect is that linear and nonlinear degrading effects will be severe in such high-speed lightwave systems. An optimal modulation format w...

1700 ps = nm tunable dispersion compensation for 10 Gbit = s RZ lightwave transmission

Introduction: Tunable dispersion compensation is becoming inevitable for fibre-optic communication systems. Important applications include replacing conventional dispersion compensating fibres (DCFs) in long-haul transmissions, compensating residual dispersion after the DCF to meet the tight dispersion tolerances required in 40 Gbit=s and above based networks, and compensating thermallyinduced ...
